My “regular” CVS was out of stock on the marked down hair color, but they did have this lovely blinkie coupon! Luckily I grabbed a few.
The next store had plenty. However, the cashier decided to make up her own rules. First she told me that the manufacturer’s coupon couldn”t be used on the clearance product.
I asked, “How could that be? L’Oreal doesn’t care about CVS’s markdown schedule. CVS will be paid the amount of the coupon, and you can adjust it down if you have to.” She thought about it, reading the coupon over and over again. I felt it was a test of wills, that she was waiting for me to give in. I didn’t.
She told me she would have to break it into separate transactions, as the coupon shown above read, “limit one coupon per purchase”
I took a deep breathe and said, Yes, it does. Most coupons say that. …THIS (I picked up a box of hair color and a coupon) is a purchase…. THIS (I made a circular motion over all the products) is a transaction.”
She read the coupons a few more times, in case they changed since she set them down 
. Another minute (hour) or so passed… and this is how the transactions went down.
1st Transaction
L’Oreal Coleur Experte Express $17.49 – 75% off = $4.37
L’Oreal Feria $10.49 – 75% off = $2.62
I used $5/2 L’oreal Hair Color from 1/8 RP
L’Oreal Root Rescue $8.49 – 75% off = $2.12
